How one backpack can make a difference

Our 4th backpack giveaway took place this September at Nuffer Elementary School in Norwalk! We had great success in collecting backpacks and school supply donations through donation boxes placed at Well Fargo Bank, New York life Insurance, and kind members of our community. Thanks to the support of our donors, we were able to put together 160 backpacks filled with school supplies; more than we’ve ever had!

We were so grateful to be able to collaborate with local programs like the After School Education and Safety (ASES) program, the NLMUSD Mckinney-Vento Program, NHS Skills USA, as well as Feed the Children.

Preparation for this event began with the help of college students who donated their time on a saturday morning to help put the backpacks together. On that day, we were able to learn more about the students’ desire to be involved in their community and the impact of such.

As per usual, the day of the event was filled with excitement and joy. We were able to connect with Nuffer Elementary students and their parents. We got to engage in conversation regarding the needs of the youth in our community.

Team DBP is so grateful for the opportunities given to us to be able to spread our mission and even more thankful to our supporters who year after year continue to step up with donations and helping hands. Thank you!
